When you think of a central business district, you picture endless rows of towering buildings and roads with high density traffic - no more, no less. Cross out Downtown Miami from that CBD category. What makes Downtown Miami's central business district different from typical business districts is the luscious greenery - mostly trees and shrubs - the tranquil riverside view, the cool breeze and the gentle Florida sun kiss. A visit to Downtown Miami is not another boring “business as usual” day but a day full of only-in-Downtown-Miami activities.

Bayfront Park Walk

You will definitely enjoy a morning or late afternoon walk at Bayfront Park as well as the architectural and artistic masterpieces located there. The highly-urbanized feel of the skyscrapers is toned down by the endless rows of shady trees. A few more steps east is Biscayne Bay and making a perfect background is the Port of Miami.

For those who have a high appreciation of art, head south and you will see products from the creative hands of Edouard-Duval Carrié, a famous Haitian-born sculpture, and Cuban-born Glexis Novoa who is famous for his wall drawings.

Metromover Ride

Nothing beats a Downtown Miami tour except maybe a bird's eye view of it from Miami's Metromover.  Crossing high above the magnificent riverfront, the Metromover light rail allows tourists to enjoy the breathtaking view of Downtown Miami for free. Take the Downtown Loop to see the enormous shopping centers and business establishments. On the other hand, Omni Loop will lead you to the far north,  giving you the chance to see the Miami Herald building and Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts. The last portion of the Metromover Loop, Brickell, travels far south until 14th street.

Downtown Shopping Galore

Moms on tight budgets will surely place Miami's Downtown Shopping Center on top of their list of shopping destinations. Adjacent to Biscayne Boulevard is a shopping haven for all shopaholics. You will find Macy's Department Store, Ross Dress for Less and La Epoca Department Store on Flagler. And if you are looking for a glittering piece of jewelry, go to the Seybold Building, the second largest jewelry building in the US located on NE 1st street.
