My Perfect Road Trip... |
|
| >Whenever I'm bored, I go on a road trip. Sounds weird, right? But I prefer doing it rather than sleeping, or just staying at home watching DVD or catching the latest episode of my favorite TV show. I prefer going outside and exploring things. I'm really an adventurous person. And besides, it's more productive rather than being a couch potato. It's one of those normal days that boredom got the best of me. So I decided to go on a road trip and go to places I haven't been in Miami. First, I went to Knaus Strawberry Farm, since I know that its the season when strawberry's are most abundant. Knaus Strawberry Farm is a perfect destination for a road trip. Not to mention you get to taste the sweet strawberries. Really a delight visiting this place. After that 'sweet escapade', I decided to go to downtown Miami. This area is technically the eastern part of Miami. This area includes Brickell, Virginia Key, Watson Island, and the Port of Miami. Known as the central business district of Miami, I found out that the largest concentration of international banks in the US can be found at Brickell Avenue. I drove towards south, and found myself appreciating the serenity at the Coral Way. I was really amazed by the line up of heavy tree canopies. I didn't know that I'll be able to see those trees lined-up at downtown Miami. After that, I decided to check out Coconut Grove, a neighborhood found in the city of Miami. There, I was able to see The Kampong. The Kampong is an 11-acre tropical garden found inside the said neighborhood. It is one of the five gardens of the non-profit National Tropical Botanical Garden. And mind you, admission is free! How cool is that? Kampong's living collections include tropical fruits including pomelo, avocado, and varieties of mango, palms, flowering trees, ficus, aroids, and bamboo. The Kampong is a real heaven to nature lovers like me! My last stop during that road trip was The Barnacle Historic State Park. It is a 5-acre state park in the Biscayne Bay. There, I was able to tour the historical place. And I even got to eat at one of the covered areas! A real perfect outdoor spot! I really had a wonderful time road tripping in Miami! Can't wait to do it again! |
