| Another Sunday and what to do - pack some waters in a cooler and head to Homestead, FL where strawberries are now in season and ready for picking at Knaus Berry Farm. It is the ideal thing to do on your own, with friends or the family especially when you want to spend some time in the outdoors and not on the beach. The Knaus Berry Farm is the perfect destination for a day road trip. Pick your own berries, get a milkshake or a homemade ice cream for a cooling off treat. Another, fun place to go on a day road trip to Miami-Dade County is Cauley Square. Named after William Cauley who was a farmer and business man who packed tomatoes to send north. Cauley helped develop the area in the early 1900s and with the help of the Flagler Railroad being close the shipping was easier and of course the farming more profitable. Cauley Square is filled with antique stores, art stores and various other shops. Once there enjoy lunch or tea at The Tea Room. Visiting the farm lands and picking your own fruits and vegetables and visiting the interesting shops in Cauley Square are the perfect way to spend a day in the outdoors that isn't the typical day in Miami. |
